About The Position

AMR is offering a unique opportunity for individuals interested in a rewarding career in pre-hospital medicine. The eligible candidate will be hired as a full-time employee and compensated a training wage while in attendance at the EMT Academy, sponsored by AMR. The academy is a rigorous six-week program which qualifies the employee to take the National Registry of EMT exam. Upon successful completion of the National Registry EMT exam, the employee will apply for a Montana State EMCT-EMT Basic Certification. There is no cost for the class and all books, tuition, fees, and uniforms will be paid by AMR. Upon successful completion of the class, all tests and state certification, the employee will be transferred to an EMT position. This program will begin 8/31/2026. Training is about 4 months, goes into December. Students will attend orientation at AMR Billings operations first on August 28th before starting classes at Billings, Montana Operations on August 31st (Address: 1701 Montana Ave, Billings, Montana 59101). Orientation and class start dates to follow. EMT Academy is an instructor-led, hands-on training program that is held a couple of days a week, Tuesday and Thursday 6 pm to 10 pm.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years old
Have a HS diploma or GED
Have a valid Montana Driver License with NO Restrictions
Successfully complete thorough pre-employment screening which includes motor vehicle and criminal background checks, drug testing and a physical agility test
Sign 12-month service commitment/agreement contract

Nice To Haves

Applicants who test positive for THC/Marijuana will be disqualified

Responsibilities

Provide basic emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system.
Perform interventions with the basic equipment typically found on an ambulance.
Function as part of a comprehensive EMS response under medical oversight.
Act as a link from the scene to the emergency health care system.
