About The Position

The Tsui Group is seeking a qualified and experienced candidate in educational facility construction projects to serve as an EMS Senior Technician for a large educational client within Los Angeles County. This role involves assisting with HVAC controls design and submittal reviews, analyzing utility data and energy usage to identify opportunities for recommissioning and retro-commissioning, and identifying energy conservation and preventive maintenance measures through the review of EMS, energy data, and alarms. The technician will also perform site visits, implement low-cost solutions for EMS systems, troubleshoot HVAC mechanical, electrical, and controls problems, respond to warranty calls, and calibrate systems. Additionally, the role includes assisting in managing in-house commissioning projects and performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

Minimum of three years of professional experience in building controls or a related field
Understanding of computer networking principles, including configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting
Ability to wire, start up, and troubleshoot basic HVAC maintenance issues
Fundamental understanding of HVAC operations within a facility.

Nice To Haves

Experience working with multiple controls manufacturers including Automated Logic, Carrier, Delta, Distech, Schneider Electric, or Trane
Proven ability to debug installation issues during both static and dynamic start-up phases
Experience supporting installation personnel and other contractors on project sites
Extensive experience in performing or assisting in performance of commissioning of EMS

Responsibilities

Assist with HVAC Controls Design and Submittal reviews
Assist in reviewing utility data and energy usage to identify schools for recommissioning and retro commissioning
Assist in reviewing EMS and energy data, and alarms to identify no cost/low-cost energy conservation measures
Assist in the review of EMS, energy data, and alarms to identify preventive maintenance measures
Perform site visits to investigate as built conditions on identified projects
Implement low-cost to no-cost solutions or alternatives to projects/repairs of EMS systems at existing school sites
Troubleshoot and resolve basic HVAC mechanical, electrical, and controls problems
Respond to basic warranty calls
Calibrate systems requiring basic electronic test equipment
Assist in managing In-House Commissioning Projects
Performs other duties as assigned
