The EMS Lieutenant (Operations) serves as a Field Trainer Officer and performs the duties of a Medic I while functioning as a ride-up supervisor in the absence of a shift Captain. This position is responsible for training and evaluating employees in the clearance process and serves as a liaison between Quality Management and shift supervision. The EMS Lieutenant (Operations) provides supervisory coverage for a designated operational area when assigned as an acting EMS Captain and may be tasked by EMS Battalion Chiefs or EMS Captains to lead or complete projects, training initiatives, or operational assignments. This position requires strong leadership, high accountability, and a commitment to Forsyth County Emergency Services operational standards. Work involves mentorship, coaching, direct field training, and ensuring quality and compliance with departmental procedures. The EMS Lieutenant (Operations) must demonstrate sound judgment, independent decision-making, and effective communication while working in a dynamic and high-pressure environment. Ability to effectively train, mentor, and evaluate EMS personnel. Strong knowledge of Forsyth County EMS protocols, policies, and quality assurance standards. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage stressful or rapidly changing situations. Ability to lead projects and assignments independently. Strong problem-solving and operational decision-making abilities.
