About The Position

The EMS Instructor will provide education to EMS representing the EMS Center of Excellence. This role involves delivering professional education to EMS providers, frequent contact with EMS Coordinator, EMS providers, and the general public at outreach events. The instructor will work closely with EMS, Trauma, and CareFlight Outreach teams for successful implementation and execution of outreach events, and will assist with setting up educational equipment both inside and outside.

Requirements

  • High School completion / GED
  • State of Ohio Paramedic
  • State of Ohio EMS Instructor
  • BLS
  • 1 - 3 years job related experience
  • 1 - 3 years of job-related experience

Responsibilities

  • Deliver professional education to EMS providers
  • Frequent contact with EMS Coordinator and EMS providers and general public at outreach events
  • Works closely with EMS, Trauma and CareFlight Outreach for successful implementation and execution of outreach events
  • Assists with setting up of educational equipment inside and outside
  • Loads and unloads training equipment
  • Transports equipment in a safe manner
  • Informs Program Manager of needed repairs to training equipment
  • Follows through with responsibilities and resolves problems
  • Communicates problems encountered and unresolved problems to Program Manager
  • Maintains a quiet, safe and clean working environment
  • Assists with orientation of new personnel
  • Receptive to change in work schedule to accommodate needs of the department
  • Accomplishes assigned duties in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintains positive Customer Service relations
  • Communicates with customers in a tone and manner that is respectful at all times.
  • Listens carefully to the needs and concerns of the customer so that an appropriate response can be made.
  • Responds quickly to meet the needs of the customer.
  • Reports concerns to Program Manager
  • Makes organized use of time, adheres to requested deadlines
  • Communicates with team members
  • Maintains email and phone for communications and scheduling
  • Reports educational needs of EMS Community to the Program Manager.
  • Reviews lesson plans, guides, homework assignments, quizzes and examinations consistent with USDOT and the Ohio DPS standards/objectives for utilization in all programs.
  • Prepares equipment necessary for lectures and hands on training for all programs.
  • Participates in classroom lectures and lab sessions
  • Monitors grades and attendance and records for all programs and notifies Program Manager of problems
  • Collects evaluations and sign in sheets and turns in to Program Manager
  • Serves as an educational resource / facilitator for area EMS training programs
  • Delivers training programs as indicated by the Program Manager
  • Reviews and advises the EMS Coordinator of improvements to educational resources as identified .
  • Recommends purchases / procurement of equipment and supplies.
  • Reviews and recommends any changes needed for clinical skills and documents
  • Assures all student documents / forms are forwarded to the Program Manager for review
  • Maintains a safe and effective learning environment
  • Returns equipment to the proper location after use
  • Keeps facility clean and orderly before and after use
