About The Position

The EMS Educator provides education and training to all disciplines of emergency care providers. Takes a leadership role in course development through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of classroom, laboratory, clinical and on-line instruction. Evaluates the EMS personnel for areas of improvement in-patient care and assesses their educational needs.

Requirements

  • High School (Required)
  • ACLS Instructor (within 60 days of hire) - Sarah Bush Lincoln
  • Basic Life Support Instructor Certification - Sarah Bush Lincoln
  • BLS or CPR certification (within 90 days of hire) - Sarah Bush Lincoln
  • EMT-P - Licensed Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic - Illinois Department of Public Health
  • International Trauma Life Support Certification - Sarah Bush Lincoln
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support Instructor Certification (within 60 days of hire) - Sarah Bush Lincoln

Responsibilities

  • Applies the principles of Adult Learning to the classroom.
  • Demonstrates attributes of a professional educator: Self-motivated, effective communicator, effective time manager, team player, organized, knowledgeable, prepared, confident, respectful, student advocate.
  • Demonstrates exceptional customer service and interacts effectively with students, customers and SBL Partners of all disciplines.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of current EMS Act and IDPH Rules & Regulations.
  • Demonstrates the ability to provide quality instruction in all learning domains.
  • Demonstrates the ability to set clear and obtainable goals and objectives for course participants and then monitor and evaluate student progress according to state, overseeing agency and/or department criteria.
  • Develops, implements and instructs assigned classes according to Federal and State of IL guidelines, rules and regulations.
  • Document, collect, maintain and submit accurate class records.
  • Provides mentorship and/or supervision to the novice instructors.
  • Responsible for EMT, AEMT ,Paramedic and/or AHA Course development using the guidelines and curriculum outlined by state IDPH Illinois Department of Public Health) and/or the appropriate national agencies (CoAEMSP, FEMA, American Heart Association, etc.).
  • Teach at varied times and places using varied formats based on student demand.
