About The Position

The Utah Department of Public Safety, Bureau of EMS is seeking a qualified and motivated applicant for the role as an EMS Education Specialist. The purpose of this position is to develop, implement, and maintain high-quality Emergency Medical Services (EMS) within the Bureau of EMS. The continuous improvement of EMS education, the position directly contributes to elevating training standards, enhancing provider competency, and improving the quality of patient care to the citizens of the State of Utah.

Requirements

  • Proficient in computer software creating course materials, including PowerPoint manuals and online learning platforms.
  • Ability to effectively present complex information to large audiences, ensuring engagement and comprehension.
  • A passion for EMS education and a commitment to improving patient care outcomes through high quality training.
  • Creativity in establishing objectives, outlines, and content for courses.
  • Experience teaching EMS courses or training EMS providers.
  • Current National Registry Certification as an EMS provider.
  • Current Utah EMS License.

Responsibilities

  • Design and update EMS training courses including EMS Instructor, Course Coordinator, and Training Officer.
  • Develop instructional materials, course guidelines, and assessment tools to enhance EMS education at all provider levels.
  • Provide initial and continuing education for EMS instructors, ensuring they meet state and national requirements.
  • Planning, coordinating, and executing the training throughout the year.
  • Working with the EMS education program and licensing staff to ensure endorsements are completed.
  • Planning, coordinating, and executing the update seminars biannually.
  • Planning, coordinating, and executing other training in the bureau such as Rural Trauma Development, Stop the Bleed, EMSC training, and others.
  • Conducting research and working with data analysts on performance improvements and then implementing the improvement training.
  • Working with training centers to ensure they have the proper personnel, equipment, and resources to conduct EMS initial training programs and renewals.
