EMS Education Specialist - BLS
About The Position
Regions Hospital EMS Education is looking for a part-time BLS Education Specialist. The EMS education specialist will act as the primary coordinator for basic level continuing education. This position works with the education supervisor and education manager to align content of education to MN, WI, NREMT and other requirements. The EMS education specialist will also prepare, replace and clean equipment; encourage, mentor and manage students and assistant instructors in a professional manner; and instruct students in didactic and practical education according to course and/or Regions Hospital EMS guidelines. The EMS education specialist will take an active role in education quality assurance and course improvement activities.
Requirements
- Associates degree in any field preferred; preference to education, leadership or business areas of study.
- Three (3) years formal teaching experience in EMS.
- Three years’ work experience in providing prehospital patient care.
- Exceptional working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and Adobe Acrobat software.
- Current Minnesota and Wisconsin EMT or Paramedic certification –OR- certification in Minnesota or Wisconsin as Paramedic or EMT –AND- eligibility to obtain the other within 3 months of hire.
Responsibilities
- Act as the primary coordinator for basic level continuing education.
- Create material for all BLS education.
- Coordinate with clinical supervisors for quarterly CME and other courses.
- Align content of education to MN, WI, NREMT and other requirements.
- Develop ongoing video-based education content to be recorded by instructors, clinical supervisors and physicians.
- Recruit, schedule and coordinate subject matter expert presentations and content sharing.
- Instruct BLS courses independently and cooperatively with per diem instructors.
- Prepare, replace and clean equipment.
- Encourage, mentor and manage students and assistant instructors in a professional manner.
- Instruct students in didactic and practical education according to course and/or Regions Hospital EMS guidelines.
- Take an active role in education quality assurance and course improvement activities.
