Employment Specialist - PT
About The Position
LIFESPAN Services is hiring Employment Specialists to develop relationships with prospective employers and create job-placement opportunities for individuals with disabilities. The role works one-to-one with local employers and provides onsite job instruction, training, mentoring, follow-along support, and guidance to help individuals obtain and maintain appropriate employment. Employment Specialists also support their team, help ensure individual goals and plans are implemented, and contribute to LIFESPAN Services' mission of empowering people with disabilities to live, work, and play in their communities.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Pass a criminal record and healthcare registry check.
- Pass a driving record check if providing transportation.
- High school graduate or equivalent (GED).
- Commitment to achieve competency in required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Current First Aid/CPR blended or classroom certification is required; training is provided by American Red Cross certified instructors if needed.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds independently, per policy.
- Willingness and ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and overtime as required.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate onsite job instruction and ensure individuals are placed in jobs appropriate to their needs and interests, using the least restrictive setting.
- Complete an average of 12 job placements per fiscal year.
- Ensure goals and plans are implemented.
- Serve as a liaison between employers and employees to ensure needs are met.
- Transport individuals safely to and from various locations while maintaining confidentiality.
- Market to prospective employers to secure job placements for individuals with disabilities.
- Complete intakes and maintain required records.
- Mentor individuals to help build social skills and relationships.
- Provide follow-along support and guidance.
- Submit accurate billing by weekly deadlines.
- Complete initial and ongoing training and participate in staff development activities.
- Meet quarterly revenue objectives.
