About The Position

The Employment Specialist is directly responsible for all classroom curriculum, including resume writing, resume submission, and mock interview classes. This role participates in the development of new training and programs designed to increase employment opportunities for program participants. The specialist performs job search training, resume and interview preparations with program participants. Additionally, the role is responsible for conducting weekly Case Management meetings, coordinating with Case Managers and Peer Mentors to ensure program participants are adequately prepared for job search in a timely manner. The Employment Specialist is directly responsible for the job placement of all program participants assigned, meeting proposed outcomes, and ensuring a smooth transition for participants in subsidized employment to permanent employment. This role also involves advocating on behalf of program participants with employers and closely monitoring all program participants' job search activity, as well as implementing and guiding goals outlined in the Individual Service Plan for each program participant. The Employment Specialist will represent Mission Services and Goodwill in the community through participation in appropriate organizations and networking events. Responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either orally or in writing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field with strong communication skills.
  • Computer literacy and knowledge of MS office required.
  • Possess good oral and written communication skills.
  • General learning ability.
  • The ability to “catch on” or understand instructions and their underlying principles.
  • The ability to reason and make judgments.
  • Ability to understand meaning of words and ideas associated with them and to use them effectively; to comprehend language; to understand relationships between words; to understand the meanings of whole sentences and paragraphs; to present information or ideas clearly.

Responsibilities

  • Report to the Program Manager all progress and participant or staff related issues.
  • Submit data and activity reports when needed.
  • Directly responsible for job placement of all program participants assigned.
  • Responsible for job placement of participants and meeting the proposed outcomes.
  • Ensure smooth transition for participants in subsidized employment to permanent employment.
  • Advocate on behalf of program participants with employers.
  • Closely monitor all program participants job search activity.
  • Implement & guide goals outlined in the Individual Service Plan for each program participant.
  • Represent Mission Services and Goodwill in the community through participation in appropriate organizations and networking events.
