About The Position

Employment Specialist provides direct vocational assessment, job development, and job coaching services to participants. The Employment Specialist will participate in identifying needed support to overcome barriers to employment. The foundation of all activities will focus on individual recovery through meaningful community participation, contribution, and membership.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma/GED and Employment Support Services credentialing from one of the following upon hire: Certified Employment Support Professional (CESP) credential from the APSE; OR Professional Certificate in Employment Services from an ACRE-approved trained member OR CWIC or WIP-C certification in current standing with the Social Security Administration.
  • Commitment to Employment First Best Practices.
  • Ability to support individuals to develop job skills in competitive employment.
  • Drivers' license and daily access to a vehicle.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed.
  • Lifting Requirements: Heavy: exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Responsibilities

  • Providing job support to working program participants.
  • Identify and respond to the needs of the consumers in achieving efficient responses to requests and to eliminate barriers limiting productivity in day-to-day activities.
  • Engage individuals in a trusting and supportive relationship, providing emotional support within professional boundaries.
  • Provide Supported Employment insight and goals with the individual, for updated ISP based upon the specific needs of the individual, with the aim of maximizing physical, emotional and mental health.
  • Assist the individual to reach the goals identified in the ISP.
  • Provide emergency on-call coverage in rotation with other team members as needed.
  • Provide all forms of job finding and support for individuals pursuing self-employment, as well as traditional jobs.
  • Complete all documentation in a timely manner.
  • Complete staffing assignments as assigned required billable productivity levels.
