About The Position

This position will work with the Supported Employment department as a Skills Trainer for individuals hired under the grant. The incumbent will be responsible for providing Pre-Employment Transition Youth Services (Pre-ETS), building work-readiness skills, assisting student-interns in being placed in a paid-internships, and monitoring intern success within the internships.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a BA/BS degree in Human Services, Education, or related field from an accredited college
  • 2 years of related Human Services, Special Education experience
  • All Training Specialists will complete levels I-IV of the Employment Specialist Training offered through the Boggs Center on Developmental Disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Paid Internship site development
  • Recruitment of students from LEAs
  • Receipt and maintenance of all assigned student and LEA contract documentation
  • Reporting program & intern progress directly to Program Coordinator by all necessary means required by DVRS
  • Completion of all required contract and DVRS paperwork
  • Keep inventory of and maintain all program supplies
  • Preparation of work-readiness classroom locations
  • Providing programing for 3wk pre-internships and 3wk post-internships workshops
  • Perform workshop duties on-location (within multiple high schools, where assigned)
  • Facilitate placement of students at individual internship sites
  • Provide any accommodations on the internship sites for interns when needed
  • Supervise the internship sites and all assigned Pre-ETS students to ensure that the placement adheres to all State and Government regulations as well as contract requirements
  • Weekly 1hr observations of each assigned student intern at the individual job sites
  • Report consumer progress and any procedural or work place problems to Program Coordinator, SE Director, and/or local VR counselors as required.
  • Handle all problems or complaints reported by Pre-ETS students and internship employers, and report these to Program Coordinator
  • Facilitate for transportation to and from the internship site for each assigned intern (as directed by agency)
  • Attend all scheduled meetings and training sessions assigned
  • Complete and turn-in all work site paperwork when required to the SE Director & program coordinator
  • At the end of each internship work week provide new timesheets at the site to each intern assigned, collect all completed timesheets with direct managers’ signatures, and turn in to program coordinator each week
  • Maintain a professional atmosphere at the work site by placing emphasis on team work and mutual respect between student-interns and others at the job site
  • Assume responsibility for maintaining a safe and sanitary environment for all consumers
  • Perform other duties that may be assigned by direct supervisors
