About The Position

The purpose of the Skills Trainer II position is to provide support, training, transportation, and on-the-job instruction to adults with developmental disabilities who are enrolled in Community Based Employment, day program, and specialized support programs. These programs can include but may not be limited to, specialized programs within external employment sites, Paid Internships, Employment First, Intensive Supported Employment, and all community support programs. Skills Trainers are required to follow all policies and procedures related to the support, training and interaction with Persons Served (individuals with disabilities). Skills Trainers who violate policies related to their interactions with Persons Served, particularly the “Dependent Adult Abuse” policy will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination depending upon the severity of the incident.

Requirements

  • Must be twenty-one years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Six months experience working within the CBS programs or equivalent work experience.
  • Two years’ work experience in a variety of occupational areas.
  • At least one year of experience working with people with developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Particularly working with individuals that exhibit challenging behaviors.
  • Familiarity with disabilities.
  • Must possess a personal mobile phone and agree to use it for official work purposes.
  • Effective writing skills to complete required documentation.
  • Agrees to special guidelines relating to administration of pay and schedules.
  • Have own reliable vehicle that can seat at least four (4) passengers with standard equipped seatbelts.
  • Must possess valid California Driver’s license.
  • Carry minimal liability insurance.
  • Must have a clean driving record and submit to routine DMV pull notice program.
  • Meets host site hiring qualifications and health clearance requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Some college courses in a related field preferred.
  • Two years’ work experience in a variety of occupational areas with at least one year of experience working with people with developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Particularly working with individuals that exhibit challenging behaviors.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support, training, transportation, and on-the-job instruction to adults with developmental disabilities.

  • Complete required documentation.
