About The Position

Horizon House, Inc. is a nationally recognized provider of services to adults with support needs due to developmental disabilities, behavioral health issues, and substance abuse. Horizon House is Pennsylvania’s oldest psychiatric rehabilitation agency. Since 1952, we have been dedicated to helping people with mental illness, drug and alcohol addictions, developmental/intellectual disabilities, and homelessness to stabilize their lives and to help them live as independently as possible in the community. With over 100 locations throughout South and North Eastern Pennsylvania and the state of Delaware, Horizon House provides services to a diverse population focusing on individual strength and choice. We have an opening for an Employment Professional position on our Delaware County PACT Team. The Employment Professional coordinates employment assessment planning with other members of the PACT team. This member of the PACT multidisciplinary team has training in one of the mental health professions (e.g., nursing, social work, rehabilitation counseling or psychology) and clinical skill and experience to assess, plan, develop coordinate, and provide treatment, rehabilitation, and support services to program clients with severe and persistent mental illness under the clinical supervision of the PACT Director and the Psychiatrist. Functions as a clinical member of the multidisciplinary team and provides treatment, rehabilitation, and support services or may be designated by the PACT Director to function as the lead mental health professional, lead registered nurse, a team vocational specialist, or substance use specialist.

Requirements

• Post-secondary school education and training is required, including internships and other supervised practical experiences in a clinical or rehabilitation setting with persons with severe and persistent mental illnesses.
• Must be licensed or certified to work in the field, abide by a code of ethical and practice standards, and be committed to a process of lifetime knowledge and skills.
• People with master’s or doctoral degrees in nursing, social work, rehabilitation counseling or psychology are eligible as are registered occupational therapists.
• Must have a strong commitment to the right and ability of each person with a severe and persistent mental illness to live in normal community residence; work in market jobs; and have access to helpful, adequate, competent, and continuous supports and services.
• Skills and competence to establish supportive trusting relationships with persons with severe and persistent mental illnesses and respect for client rights and personal preference in treatment are essential.
• Must have valid driver’s license for the state in which the program operates.
