About The Position

Responsible and caring individual needed to mentor and provide support to individuals with developmental disabilities at their job sites, and job development for individuals seeking employment in the Orange County area. The Employment Coach role involves supporting individuals with job development, including resume building, practice interviews, and learning employability skills. They also assist with transportation to and from work, accessing the community, maintaining employment and productivity, discovering interests and goals, and creating meaningful daily schedules. A key aspect of the role is building healthy relationships with the individuals served, their co-workers, roommates, and neighbors. The Employment Coach is responsible for carrying out directives from management, ensuring the service and support needs of individuals are met, and prioritizing health, safety, and quality of life. They provide job development and on-the-job supports using PBIS and Instructional Support Strategies to help individuals secure competitive integrated jobs. The role also involves gathering information for Individualized Support Plans (ISP) and utilizing digital tools like Zoom and online platforms for remote services and job searching. Maintaining strong business relationships with employers and volunteer sites is also crucial.

Requirements

Nice To Haves

Two years of college or equivalent experience preferred but not required.
Job development and on-the-job support experience preferred but not required.
Experience supporting people with disabilities preferably in community integrated settings (plus any additional experience).
Positive behavior support training experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Understands and practices IRI’s mission and embraces person-centered values.
Demonstrates respectful and dignified interaction and communication with IRI persons served, stakeholders (such as co-workers, employers, family members, community members) and IRI colleagues.
Assumes competence and builds esteem in all interactions with IRI people served.
Implement a normalized community integrated employment focused service.
Develop integrated work schedules.
Find integrated work settings and develop competitive employment placement.
Provide encouragement for meaningful employment related activities to the person served.
Conduct frequent job site analysis - pre, during and post-employment.
Implement adaptation strategies and devices based upon individual need.
Provide typical and specialized healthcare needs (medication, hygiene, toiletry, feeding) as needed.
Implement individual service plan goals and SMART objectives.
Monitor positive behavior strategy system and plans.
Conduct task analysis and demonstrate data-based training decisions.
Completes all required documents: eRSP daily care notes, clocking in/out, maintaining up to date employee personnel file, etc.
Attends and completes staff development training and attend trainings as assigned.
Communicate important updates regarding IRI person served to supervisor, circle of support, stakeholders, etc.
Dresses professionally and/or appropriately for tasks that are done with person supported (see dress code policy).
Demonstrate proper emergency strategies.
Contact and report emergencies to the Support Manager, as necessary.
Collaborates with individual served and supported, Lead Employment Coach, Support Manager, and circle of support to complete customized employment activities for job development.
Contact prospective employers and facilitate job application for participants.
Shadow and train other coaches with a specific individual you support.
All other duties as assigned by the Support Manager, Director of Services, and CEO.
