About The Position

Lamson Dugan & Murray is seeking a management-side Employment Attorney with approximately 3–5 years of experience to join their Omaha office. This role is designed for an attorney who desires direct client responsibility, significant autonomy, and the opportunity to become the primary employment advisor for an established business client base within a respected mid-sized litigation firm. The attorney will be the firm's lead on employment matters, working closely with senior partners while contributing to the long-term growth and development of the employment practice.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of management-side employment law experience
  • Experience handling BOTH employment litigation and employment counseling/compliance matters
  • Strong writing, communication, and client management skills
  • Ability to independently manage matters and communicate directly with clients
  • Licensed and in good standing (Nebraska licensure or ability to waive in preferred)

  • Experience handling EEOC or state agency matters
  • Deposition and motion practice experience
  • Employee handbook and policy drafting experience
  • Mid-sized or regional law firm background
  • Interest in long-term partnership path and practice development

Responsibilities

  • Defend employers in employment-related litigation matters including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and wage & hour disputes.
  • Manage employment litigation matters from initial strategy through resolution, including drafting motions, managing discovery, taking and defending depositions, attending mediations, and supporting trial preparation.
  • Advise employers on day-to-day employment law issues.
  • Draft and review employee handbooks, workplace policies, employment agreements, and separation agreements.
  • Counsel clients on ADA/FMLA issues, employee discipline and termination, HR best practices, and compliance with federal and state employment laws.
  • Respond to and manage EEOC and state agency claims and investigations.
  • Guide employers through pre-litigation employment disputes and risk management strategies.
  • Help build and expand the firm’s employment practice.
  • Develop trusted relationships with existing firm clients.
  • Work closely with firm leadership on long-term practice development.
