About The Position

META Employment Services is seeking an organized, adaptable, and service-focused Employment Assistant to provide support across our Employment Services programs. This is a contract position for 30 hours per week with an end date of March 31, 2027. Applicants should be aware that this opportunity is specifically intended to provide temporary operational coverage and support based on organizational and client-service needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma and experience working in an office setting.
  • Advanced computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Suite applications and effective research skills utilizing internet resources and databases.
  • Ability to multitask; highly organized with strong time-management skills.
  • Capable of working efficiently and accurately under pressure and flexible to changing demands of the job.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with attention to detail and the ability to produce grammatically accurate documentation, letters, and resources.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Access to reliable transportation for travel outside the office.
  • Current and clear criminal record check, including vulnerable sector screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Post-secondary education in social services, developmental services, or special education is an asset.
  • Experience working with diverse populations, including individuals with disabilities and/or complex barriers to employment, is an asset.
  • Bilingualism in French and English is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support and coverage as needed in various employment service areas, including but not limited to: Providing coverage for the reception desk, answering general inquiries, taking messages, booking appointments, and directing visitors to appropriate personnel and resources.
  • Conducting client intakes, completing forms, collecting documentation, and recording client and/or employer data into various databases and systems.
  • Providing one-on-one support to individuals in navigating program components such as the use of computer equipment and assistive devices, accessing community service information, updating or creating resumes and cover letters, and conducting follow-ups with new and existing clients.
  • Collecting required quotes and assisting clients in completing eligible purchases.
  • Providing job coaching, including on-the-job client support through orientation and review of training materials, safety protocols, job duties, and company policies and procedures.
  • Assisting in the facilitation of workshops and preparing related class paperwork and materials.
  • Accurately entering data into internal and external databases, collecting required documentation such as paystubs, and producing reports as required.
  • Assisting in the development of employer engagement activities and providing support in securing participant placements, job trials, and job-shadowing opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Manager.
