About The Position

PSRS/PEERS is seeking an Employer Services Specialist I to join its Employer Services team. This role serves as the first point of contact for employers across Missouri, ensuring accurate and efficient submission and processing of vital reporting information such as final pay and termination details. The position requires strong communication and problem-solving skills to guide employers through the reporting system. It combines customer service, administrative support, and data review, involving monitoring employer reporting files, identifying and resolving errors, and assisting internal teams with mailings, correspondence, and special projects. The work directly contributes to maintaining the integrity of member accounts for retirement benefit calculations. This is a detail-oriented role for individuals who enjoy helping others and contributing to a mission-driven organization.

Requirements

  • Solid foundation in administrative practices.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Basic accounting principles knowledge.
  • Ability to learn and apply relevant laws, regulations, and PSRS/PEERS policies.
  • Clear communication skills for explaining processes and resolving reporting questions.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Accurate record keeping.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least two years of office experience (substitutions may be allowed).
  • Valid State of Missouri driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field.
  • Prior pension experience.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor employer reporting files for completeness and accuracy.
  • Identify and resolve errors in employer-submitted data.
  • Analyze incorrect or missing data.
  • Communicate with employers to resolve reporting issues.
  • Document steps taken to ensure member records are precise and up to date.
  • Provide frontline assistance to employers via phone, chat, and email.
  • Offer basic guidance on navigating the employer reporting system.
  • Troubleshoot common employer questions.
  • Help employers understand their reporting obligations.
  • Prepare, print, and mail monthly retiree “no final pay” letters.
  • Provide administrative and clerical assistance to Employer Services staff.
  • Organize documentation.
  • Prepare correspondence.
  • Assist Employer Services Analysts with year-end functions.
  • Participate in special projects assigned throughout the year.
