About The Position

Yonge Street Mission (YSM) is a non-profit Christian organization dedicated to ending chronic poverty in Toronto. Since 1896, YSM has been transforming lives by providing holistic programs and services that help vulnerable individuals and communities move from surviving to thriving. YSM seeks staff who are passionate about their mission, believe in treating everyone with dignity and respect, and have a heart for serving those in need. The Employer Liaison role is within the Integrated Employment Services (IES) Program, which offers tailored employment support to job seekers. This position focuses on developing and nurturing employer relationships to align with client skills and needs, ultimately facilitating sustainable employment. The role reports to the Workforce Engagement Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary diploma/degree in marketing, business development, career development, or a related field.
  • 1+ years of experience in employer engagement, recruitment, or workforce development.
  • Proven track record working with diverse client populations and building employer partnerships.
  • Strong communication, judgment, problem-solving, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office, CRM systems, and digital tools.
  • Experience with data analysis and reporting.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation for travel within the GTA.

  • Knowledge of local labour markets and workforce needs
  • Multilingual capabilities (e.g., French, Spanish, Mandarin, Arabic)
  • First Aid/CPR certification

Responsibilities

  • Proactively develop new employer relationships in response to the employment goals, skills, and abilities of individual participants and job start KPIs
  • Meet quantitative targets as part of YSM's performance management process
  • Act as an intermediary between Employment Counsellors, participants, and employers throughout job trials and brokered incentive agreements, assisting with problem-solving, conflict resolution, and execution of training plans
  • Educate employers on the barriers faced, and the unique potential of clients from YSM population focus groups, including People with Disabilities
  • Negotiate with employers on any accommodation supports required by participants
  • Develop employer personas that detail variables such as labor market needs, training requirements, and range/characteristics of available positions, and articulate employer preferences
  • Prioritize recruitment of employers offering high-quality jobs. Conduct initial and recurring employer site inspections to ensure participants are introduced to safe, positive work environments.
  • Support training cohorts with employers in high-demand fields
