About The Position

To provide oversight and direct services for the Senior Community Service Employment Program participants and Partnering agencies, adhering to National Easter Seals and Department of Labor guidelines while complying with Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley policies and procedures. To organize, plan and implement a systematic method of identifying, contacting and maintaining rapport with area employers' job openings. To assist the provider's clientele in securing appropriate full-time, part-time competitive supported employment. To make efforts to market all services available through the Agency when contacting prospective employers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Vocational Rehabilitation, Business Education, Social Science or related field.
  • Minimum of one-year experience in field of vocational rehabilitation or job development.
  • Involvement in implementation and development of training programs for adults with disabling and disadvantaging conditions.
  • Knowledge of business and industry hiring practices.
  • A valid driver's license and your own car are also required
  • Must maintain the ability to pass a criminal background check and random drug screens.
  • Must be able to interact cordially and productively with a variety of people.
  • Must be able to market Easter Seals and explain the mission to the general public.
  • Ability to use general office equipment including computer keyboard by touch.
  • Must possess good organizational and time management skills.
  • Must be able to take initiative, make decisions and work well with little supervision.
  • Must be able to keep information confidential.
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate clearly in English.
  • Must be able to maintain an effective working relationship with, and among employees and participants, while motivating them to their best performance.
  • Must be able to make schedules and work with generally little supervision.
  • Ability to function in a hectic work environment with occasional periods of high stress

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for adherence of all requirements related to specific funding sources for SCSEP. This includes maintaining necessary records, submitting weekly reports as required and providing input to referral sources regarding individual placement progress.
  • Provide weekly and monthly reports to Quality Assurance.
  • Enter all participant data into SPARQ database. Update participant information into SPARQ as needed and or required.
  • Recruits program participants and Host Agency training sites and matches participants to Host Agency training sites based upon participant needs, interests, and aptitudes.
  • Networks with and maintains a positive relationship with providers in all counties served to identify training and employment opportunities and to co-refer participants.
  • Markets the organization and SCSEP in the community, including public speaking engagements, making cold calls and visiting employers, to find placement and training opportunities for participants.
  • Conducts eligibility interviews for SCSEP program applicants and determines eligibility for services using Department of Labor guidelines.
  • Informs participants of all Easter Seals Services based on identified needs, concerns, and preferences and assists participants in accessing these services as needed.
  • Develops an Individual Employment Plan for each participant based upon a Needs Assessments and updates a minimum of quarterly.
  • Identifies barriers to employment, has knowledge of community providers, and makes appropriate referrals.
  • Conducts or oversees a formal orientation for new participants as needed.
  • Develops and maintains appropriate participant files, departmental records, database information and reports required by Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley, National Easter Seals, and the Department of Labor.
  • Manages and ensures confidentiality of these files and records, keeping in compliance with the organization’s guidelines, policies, and Department of Labor regulations.
  • Communicates on a regular basis with Host Agencies to monitor participant performance and assesses permanent employment potential
  • Meets or exceeds individual and departmental program goals as established with supervisor or by the DOL.
  • Teaches a variety of skills including job readiness, basic literacy, and life skills in a classroom or one-on-one format.
  • Assist program with Retention Performance measure by conducting and documenting regular follow-up activities with participants and employers.
  • Stays informed of community, agency, and program information through inter-office communications, attendance at staff meetings, participation in professional development activities and other community events.
  • Acts as a positive role model for employees and participants in all aspects of professional performance.
  • Observes safety procedures and personnel policies, and ensures compliance by employees and participants.
  • Provide local labor market information to job applicants.
  • Schedule and attend monthly staffings.
  • Initiate contact with prospective employer to determine personnel needs and arrange interviews for applicants.
  • Provide career counseling, exploration and development to job applicants.
  • Assist applicants in contacting and obtaining interviews from appropriate prospective employers.
  • Provide own transportation to visit employers and participants on site, as needed.
  • Provide weekly and monthly reports to Quality Assurance.
  • Initiate contact with prospective employer to determine personnel needs and arrange interviews for applicants.
  • Provide career counseling, exploration and development and job seeking skills training to job applicants.
  • Assist applicants in contacting and obtaining interviews from appropriate prospective employers.
  • Comply with all Agency policies, procedures and safety standards throughout work areas and maintain same to meet CARF, Department of Labor and other regulatory standards.
