About The Position

The Employee Services Technician supports the Tribal Access Program (TAP) and Employee Services operations by processing criminal background checks, maintaining program records, and entering data within authorized systems & databases. The Technician performs work within established policies, procedures, and Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) security requirements to ensure the proper handling of criminal justice information. This position provides technical and administrative support to tribal departments requiring background checks and system access, including, all volunteers/Contract youth-serving programs. The Technician works under moderate supervision and assists with routine program operations, background screening processes, and maintaining accurate documentation for program compliance and reporting. Additionally, this role provides support for the Public Safety Division’s Tribal Emergency Operations Center (TEOC) Incident Command and emergency preparedness efforts, contributing to overall program efficiency and readiness.

Requirements

• Knowledge of administrative procedures, recordkeeping, and data entry practices.
• Ability to perform routine technical and administrative work within established procedures.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of criminal justice and personnel information.
• Ability to follow policies, procedures, and instructions related to CJIS and TAP operations.
• Ability to complete assigned tasks and computations accurately within established procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly with staff, clients, and external partners.
• Basic knowledge of office software and database systems.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• One (1) – Three (3) years of clerical, administrative, data entry, or program support experience.
• Experience working with confidential information and records.
• Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, and database systems.
• Must be 21 years of age with a Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Process criminal background check requests for tribal departments.
• Enter criminal history and eligibility information into authorized systems.
• Coordinate and conduct employee and applicant drug screening.
• Maintain accurate case files, transaction logs, and supporting documentation for screening activities.
• Operate and support Tribal Access Program (TAP) systems and ensure efficient program operations.
• Ensure confidentiality and proper handling of sensitive criminal justice information.
• Provide administrative and technical support to the Employee Services Coordinator in the delivery of TAP and Employee Services programs.
• Support TEOC Incident Command Systems, emergency preparedness activities, and Public Safety initiatives as assigned.
• Other duties as assigned
