About The Position

The Employee Relations Specialist will assist with human resources matters, gathering, collecting, and maintaining documents and records required for policy development and investigations. This role directs the company’s employee relations and communication strategies including progressive discipline, conflict resolution and employee satisfaction. The specialist handles routine human resource inquiries related to policies, procedures, and refers complex matters to appropriate management staff. They serve as the initial contact and liaison for intake and assessment of employee complaints, conduct initial interviews, and gather information for employee relations matters such as harassment allegations, work complaints, or other concerns, informing appropriate HR staff when additional investigation is required. This position also assists with recordkeeping related to hiring, termination, leave, transfer, and promotion, particularly as related to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), and diversity initiatives. The Employee Relations Specialist conducts surveys, interviews, and other research related to human resource policies, and compensation; collects information and reports results to the Human Resources Director. They maintain knowledge and understanding of laws and regulations related to EEO, and human resources, and assist with preparation of plans, policies, documents, and reports including EEO-1, organizational charts, and employee handbooks. Additionally, the role conducts exit interviews, summarizes findings, and discusses trends and concerns with senior management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business, Accounting, or related field required and/or a combination of education and experience equalling a minimum of 4 years.
  • At least three years of professional human resource administration required with experience in employee relations preferred.
  • Outstanding communication skills for interviewing in person, phone and Skype.
  • Computer knowledge with emphasis on Word and Excel and Google Suite.
  • Exhibits dependability, including following instructions; responding to supervisor’s direction; and taking responsibility for own actions.
  • Ability to take initiative, including asking for and offering help when needed, and perform work independently without being prompted.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, prioritize and plan work activities, use time efficiently, and work within deadlines.
