About The Position

This role is responsible for managing employee relations, engagement, and benefits programming. The specialist will conduct investigations, provide counsel on company policies, and administer various employee programs. They will also play a key role in fostering a positive work environment and ensuring compliance with employment laws. The position requires strong communication, organizational, and decision-making skills, with a focus on maintaining confidentiality and promoting employee well-being.

Requirements

  • Required high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Required one – two years of experience in employee relations, engagement, training or related adult education experiences and/or related business experiences.
  • Required strong organizational skills, data entry, and clerical skills.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State laws and regulations regarding employment.
  • Excellent communication skills (written & verbal) including both one-on-one or group settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions, be objective, and handle difficult employee issues.
  • Strong ability to set priorities and manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Ability to get along with co-workers and work as a team.
  • Ability to properly manage confidential information.
  • Excellent active listening, conflict management, and negotiation skills.
  • Exercise tact, diplomacy, and good judgment in a highly confidential and sensitive environment.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to take ownership for a wide range of responsibilities.
  • Present a well-groomed professional appearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred two years’ experience in Human Resources, and Employee Relations, and/or supervisor.
  • Preferred College education.
  • Ability to speak, read and write Spanish is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Research and gather data to respond to federal, state, and local agencies (EEOC, DOL, Unemployment).
  • Address employee concerns, conduct comprehensive investigations, and recommend appropriate action based on company policy, procedure, and state and federal employment laws.
  • Follow up with departments to ensure compliance.
  • Provide data, analysis, and recommendations on employee satisfaction and retention measures.
  • Spearhead, champion, and monitor employee engagement activities, including closed-loop communication processes, exit interviews, and EOS/SFS Administration and improvement planning.
  • Assist and provide counseling to employees and management; discuss possible actions to be taken to ensure improvement in department and to positively impact turnover.
  • Provide counsel to employees and all levels of management on company policies and procedures.
  • Organize and execute departmental climate surveys, focus groups, and round tables, and provide analysis and appropriate recommendations to management.
  • Execute activities for the employee grievance process, including the Board of Review.
  • Coordinate annual employee feedback surveys, including quarterly follow-up for the purposes of identifying strengths and opportunities.
  • Help departments and supervisors to evaluate and analyze data, providing recommendations and support.
  • Plan and execute employee relations, recognition, and engagement activities.
  • Conduct, monitor, and track performance management efforts.
  • Administer the employee HEART Fund process.
  • Manage budget(s) to support property and corporate engagement initiatives.
  • Organize work and input data accurately into various systems.
  • Act as a role model to other employees and present oneself as a credit to Harrah’s.
  • Develop relationships with all levels of employees.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Properly use, care for, and maintain company equipment, computers, and supplies.
  • Meet attendance guidelines and adhere to regulatory, departmental, and company policies in an ethical manner.
  • Develop, coordinate, manage, and maintain benefits and total wellbeing programming to reduce health risk, medical costs, and encourage healthy lifestyles.
  • Work with HR Partners to administer benefit programs, including Medical, Dental, Vision, Flexible Spending, Life, and LTD; answer employee questions regarding benefits and wellbeing programs.
  • Manage and track escalated leave of absences issues.
  • Support all functions of Human Resources as needed and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Participate in all mandatory meetings and pre-shift BUZZ sessions.
  • Work as a team and get along with co-workers.
  • Respond to visual and aural cues.
  • Present a well-groomed, professional appearance.
  • Comply with all state, federal, and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Work a varied schedule including holidays, nights, and weekends as needed.
  • Work a reasonable amount of overtime when required.
