We’re seeking a dedicated Employee Relations Specialist to join our dynamic Human Resources team at our South Edmonton Corporate Head Office. About the Role: As the primary trusted advisor to our Store and Field Managers, you will play a critical role in supporting employee relations across the organization. You will provide expert guidance and ensure consistent, fair, and compliant people practices. Key areas of accountability include: Employee Relations: Provide coaching and support to managers on performance management, discipline, terminations, and workforce complaints. Workplace Investigations: Lead end-to-end investigations, delivering clear, well-documented findings and recommendations in alignment with company policies and legal requirements. Disability and Leave Management: Support managers with statutory leaves and short/long-term disability cases, including communication, documentation, and return-to-work planning. Lead Employment Standards Compliance: Ensure compliance with provincial and territorial legislation and support resolution of Employment Standards matters in an ethical and effective manner. Engagement: Assist the Human Resources Manager with executing and analyzing the associate engagement program. HR Documentation and Records Management: Prepare and manage HR documents such as offer letters, fitness-for-work forms, warnings, termination letters, exit interviews and overtime agreements. Maintain accurate records of Associate Relations issues. HR Systems and Policy Management: Support ongoing improvements to HRIS (UKG) and contribute to the development and enhancement of HR policies and processes. Training and Development: Develop and deliver online and in-person presentations that educate and support Managers in the practice of effective associate relations and disability management.

Requirements

  • A university degree with formal education in Human Resources
  • Minimum 5+ years of Employee Relations experience
  • Must possess or be eligible to obtain a CPHR designation.
  • Strong knowledge of provincial Employment Standards and Human Rights legislation/regulations with excellent writing and research skills.
  • Proven ability to apply solid logic and judgment in investigating problems and evaluating viable solutions.
  • Effective communication, consultation, coaching and conflict management skills. This includes the ability to deliver these supports over the telephone or via email.
  • Strong computer skills with intermediate or greater proficiency in all facets of MS Office.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with team members, associates, and vendors.
  • A customer service and continuous improvement focus supported by excellent organizational and time management skills to manage independent work.
  • A background and credit check will be required.
