About The Position

The Employee Relations Specialist is responsible for the administration of Ocean Casino Resort’s discipline policies and procedures. This role involves developing and administering progressive discipline, reviewing disciplinary actions, and advising managers on performance and behavioral issues. The specialist will also conduct investigations, recommend corrective actions, and ensure compliance with employment laws and collective bargaining agreements. Additionally, the role requires maintaining a tracking system for investigations and grievances, facilitating grievances, and keeping detailed records.

Requirements

  • Ability to effectively communicate in English (Read, Write, Speak & Understand)
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in Human Resources or operations supervision, preferably with experience in employee relations or dispute resolution.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated patience, tact, and respect.
  • Must be able to demonstrate sensitivity and awareness on behalf of a diverse workforce.
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Federal, State and local employment laws.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Collective Bargaining Agreements.

Nice To Haves

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Counseling, or equivalent applicable experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and administers progressive discipline policy and procedures.
  • Reviews disciplinary actions.
  • Advises and counsels managers and supervisors regarding job performance and behavioral issues concerning their team members.
  • Recommends appropriate courses of action.
  • Works with managers and supervisors assisting in documenting performance and/or disciplinary issues.
  • Conducts investigations regarding complaints and concerns brought forth by team members or management.
  • Formulates recommendations for corrective action based on investigation findings & internal policies and procedures as well as applicable federal, state and/or local employment laws.
  • Reviews involuntary terminations consistent with policies and procedures.
  • Develops and maintains a tracking system for all employee investigations and grievances.
  • Schedules, prepares and facilitates grievances.
  • Maintains detailed notes and files for all investigations and grievances.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager or director.
