About The Position

Provides Employee Health Program functions for Manatee Memorial Hospital employees, volunteers, medical staff, and patients. Processes new hires and performs pre-employment screenings. Coordinates clinic activities, including but not limited to, the annual influenza program, tuberculosis surveillance, respiratory fit compliance, health assessments, needle stick incidents, occupational exposures, medical triage, and follow up for exposure to infectious diseases. Under the direction of the Employee Health Manager, the Employee Health Nurse assists with ensuring all new hires and current employee requirements maintain compliance with OSHA, CMS TJC, and CAP. Promotes wellness across the facility and provides educational materials to employees.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate/GED
  • Current and active licensure as a Professional Registered Nurse in the State of Florida
  • Must possess current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • 2-4 years of clinical nursing experience required.
  • Knowledge of current and comprehensive, professional knowledge, and skills consistent with nursing standards.
  • Must possess excellent nursing assessment, communication, & teaching skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational/Technical School/Diploma
  • 1-2 years’ experience in Employee Health or Infectious Disease Dept.(s) Preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Under the direct supervision of the Employee Health Manager, provides clinical nursing services related to the health and wellness of prospective and current employees to ensure compliance with legal requirements for more than 2,000 hospital employees. Coordinates the day-to-day nursing and office activities of the department.
  • Participates in the annual influenza program, tuberculosis surveillance, respiratory fit compliance, performing new hire health screening assessments, needle stick incidents, occupational exposures, medical triage, and follow-up for exposure to infectious diseases.
  • Provides wellness guidance and education to hospital staff. Establishes and maintains employee health records, assesses initial physiological needs on injured employees and volunteers, and evaluates responses to all procedures and interventions carried out on both a physical and psychological basis.
  • Other duties as assigned that are reasonably within the scope of those enumerated above.

  • Collaborates with Loss Control, Safety, and Infection Control in the investigation/prevention of work-related injuries.
