Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • 4-6 years of experience in benefits operations, finance, or related analytical roles, with direct experience supporting self-insured medical plans strongly preferred.
  • Strong experience with benefits billing, financial reconciliation, claims funding, and vendor invoicing processes.
  • Working knowledge of self-insurance mechanics, including stop-loss, claims funding, and IBNR reserves.
  • Experience with HRIS and payroll systems (preferably Workday).
  • Advanced Excel skills, and familiarity with automation tools.
  • Highly analytical professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is able to manage multiple requests and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and data management acumen with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and complex, multi-system data environments, with a bias toward process improvement and automation.
  • Excellent communication and partnership skills, with the ability to work effectively across Finance, Payroll, and external vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Own all financial and operational components of the firm’s benefits programs, including claims funding, plan budgeting, billing, and financial controls.
  • Manage the monthly claims funding cycle, including reviewing third-party administrator (TPA) funding requests, validating claims activity, tracking stop loss claims, managing reimbursements, and ensuring timely and accurate remittance.
  • In partnership with Finance, support the end-to-end benefits billing operations, including carrier and vendor invoicing, internal cost allocations, and reconciliation processes to ensure accurate funding, remittance, and financial reporting.
  • Perform detailed monthly reconciliations across vendor invoices, enrollment data, and payroll deductions, and resolve discrepancies including retroactive adjustments and billing errors.
  • Ensure the integrity of benefits data across HRIS, payroll, and third-party vendor systems, and develop and maintain reconciliation models to validate data accuracy across platforms.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency through automation and tooling, and support system enhancements focused on financial accuracy.
  • Develop and deliver regular reporting to leadership and Finance to support financial oversight and operational transparency, leveraging advanced Excel to build scalable reporting tools.
  • Support the annual open enrollment process, including testing of benefit plans and eligibility rules in Workday, employee communications, and issue resolution.
  • Execute day-to-day compliance activities across benefits operations, including monitoring eligibility, enrollments, and plan administration against ERISA, ACA, and HIPAA requirements; maintaining accurate records; and supporting audits and reporting to ensure processes remain controlled, accurate, and compliant.
