About The Position

OVD Insurance offers paid internship opportunities for current students who are interested in pursuing careers in the insurance sector. Our summer internship program presents a significant chance for participants to gain insights and experience within the industry. OVD’s employee benefits department services group customers ranging in size from 2 employees up to 1,000 employees. Group benefits include medical and prescription plans, dental, vision, life insurance and disability insurance, and voluntary insurance products. OVD prides itself in providing clients with high touch, hands-on service, acting as a resource for the benefits teams. This internship opportunity is open to anyone with interest in health insurance, financial analysis, sales and/or customer support and account management. Our internship opportunity is built around providing a comprehensive knowledge foundation and encourages learning about coverage across business sectors. This internship opportunity aims to augment the academic knowledge you have gained through your studies, allowing you to apply your learning to real-world scenarios. Furthermore, the program features educational workshops, presentations from senior leaders within the organization, and encourages collaboration, fostering interactions with fellow professionals across various locations.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a higher education institution and entering junior or senior year of college.
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Must be a current student through the duration of the intern program.
  • Ability to type quickly and accurately on a keyboard.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Able to work onsite for the duration of the internship.
  • Availability from May 17, 2027 – August 6, 2027.
  • Extremely strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to translate technical information for end users.
  • High energy work ethic with the ability to work independently while maintaining excellent customer relationships.
  • Proactive approach and highly organized.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others.

Nice To Haves

  • Some travel to different states may be required at the company’s expense.

Responsibilities

  • Shadow and train in the employee benefits industry through job shadowing, presentations, client project assignments, and prospecting.
  • Work alongside industry leaders and seasoned professionals.
  • Explore a career in sales and client relations, establishing oneself as a trusted advisor.
  • Participate in agent sales meetings and learn from producers in specific niche markets.
  • Engage in day-to-day client management.
  • Gain exposure to operating systems and agency management systems.
  • Perform data analysis and application.
  • Understand the claims process and claims advocacy.
  • Assist with projects and tasks for strategy, marketing, sales, relationship management, customer service, and research.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team on new ideas and projects to drive company growth.
