About The Position

Seyfarth Shaw LLP is seeking an Employee Benefits Associate with 4-7 years of experience in the welfare-side of employee benefits advice and counsel. The Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation Department is a large and comprehensive team that represents major businesses across various industries. The firm is known for its innovation in legal service delivery and offers a dynamic, diverse office culture focused on client growth and employee development. As an Associate, you will work on challenging legal projects in a team-based environment, utilizing state-of-the-art technology and receiving continuous investment in professional development.

Requirements

• 4-7 years of employee benefits experience in health and welfare plans, including HIPAA, ACA, COBRA, mental health parity, cafeteria plans, flexible spending accounts, severance plans, and related compliance and counseling work.
• Top law firm experience, or a combination of law firm and in-house experience.
• Excellent academic credentials.
• Analytical skills, and verbal and written communication skills.
• Admission to the Illinois Bar (or the ability to waive into the Illinois Bar).

Responsibilities

• Work on interesting, challenging, and groundbreaking legal projects in a team-based environment.
• Provide employee benefits advice and counsel, focusing on the welfare-side.
• Handle compliance and counseling work related to health and welfare plans.
