Founded in 2001, Mastery Schools is a public charter network of 23 K-12 schools in Philadelphia and Camden, serving more than 14,000 students. At Mastery, the mission is to provide all students with the academic and personal skills they need to succeed after graduation and pursue their dreams, with a commitment to pursuing equity, actively disrupting systemic racism, and addressing disparities. The culture is built on respect, service, and the belief that student success will help achieve the mission, fostering a positive, open, and inclusive environment. Camden KAPS serves as an early educational emotional support model for students in grades K-12 who are experiencing significant difficulties in the general education environment, offering small classes for individual attention. As an Elementary Special Education Teacher at Mastery, you will work with a team of teachers, case managers, school leaders, and central office support staff to help push the boundaries of what’s possible for your students academically, emotionally, and physically while also developing your craft. Along with managing student IEPs, you will deliver research-based interventions and monitor progress across a series of systems designed to deliver the best outcomes for students and accelerate professional growth. Mastery has a robust response to intervention program, utilizing iReady, Read180, Code and Foundations for struggling readers and iReady, Math180, IXL and Numberworlds for mathematicians in 7th-12th grade interventions. The Specialized Services Programming spans from an itinerant to supplemental level of support, with a preference for students with IEPs to spend the minimum amount of time in self-contained classrooms. The school-based and central office-based Specialized Services Team members help Special Education Teachers and Classroom Assistants build comprehensive support. Classrooms are tailored for students who are English Language Learners, students with Autism Support needs, students with Emotional Support needs, students with Multiple Disability needs, and students with Life Skills needs. Mastery values Continuous Improvement and provides professional development or peer collaboration time built into the staff calendar.
