EMLK (Punch/Laser Operator) - West Bend
About The Position
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the EMLK (Punch/Laser Operator) operates Amada EMLK equipment, removes parts cut by the machine, performs metal finishing as needed, and identifies and organizes cut parts in a just-in-time fabrication shop. The operator may also assist other operators as a helper on key work or machines as required. Availability is needed for either first or second shift. The position involves operating and maintaining the Amada EMLK 3610 NT CNC laser-turret combination press equipment and its tooling, coordinating with Operations, Engineering, and Production Planning on work orders and scheduling, and loading and unloading products. The operator may also use other sheet-metal fabrication equipment, verify workpieces against specifications, follow safety and workplace policies, and complete paperwork accurately.
Requirements
- Strong background operating lasers, turret punches, or CNC machines.
- At least 1 year of manufacturing-environment experience is strongly desired.
- Competence in basic dimensional measuring and ability to learn precision measurement tools quickly.
- Competence in basic shop math.
- Basic ability to read and understand blueprints and other shop drawing aids.
- Flexibility, responsiveness, and a strong teamwork orientation.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Desire to learn new skills and improve technical knowledge.
- Strong orientation toward quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

Nice To Haves
- Welding experience.
- Experience with Trumpf or equivalent punch/laser combination machines.
- Previous experience in a highly technical environment.
- Ability to perform setups and operations on CO2 lasers and/or turret punches.
- Ability to understand and program G and M code machine language.
- Previous experience using an overhead crane.
Responsibilities
- Operate Amada EMLK 3610 NT CNC laser-turret combination press equipment.
- Maintain tooling libraries and equipment for daily operation.
- Coordinate with Operations, Engineering, and Production Planning regarding daily work orders and scheduling issues.
- Load and unload products to and from machines.
- Assist the department with other sheet-metal fabrication machines, including press brakes, rolls, shears, drill presses, and spot welders.
- Verify workpieces conform to specifications.
- Follow safety guidelines and demonstrate safe work practices.
- Follow workplace rules.
- Complete paperwork neatly and accurately.
- Assist other operators as a helper on key work or machines as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
