About The Position

Emergency and Critical Care Veterinary Technician Schedule: Full-time opportunity, 3 x 12-hour shifts. Day/1st shift. 7 am - 8pm with rotating weekends and minimal Holidays. Compensation: $ 27 - 35/hr and Pay range is negotiable based on experience, skills, knowledge, abilities and other relevant credentials. At VCA Aurora Animal Hospital , you’ll be part of a 24/7 emergency, specialty, and primary care hospital delivering advanced, team-based medicine. Our hospital features an Emergency & Critical Care department with a fully staffed ICU, providing continuous monitoring and treatment for critically ill patients. We practice medicine in a setting that closely mirrors human healthcare, with advanced diagnostics, specialty collaboration, and cutting-edge treatment capabilities. As a teaching-focused environment, you’ll work alongside experienced veterinarians, specialists, and technicians in a culture that prioritizes learning, mentorship, and high standards of care. The Role As a Credentialed Veterinary Technician (ER/ICU) , you’ll play a critical role in patient care across emergency and specialty services. You’ll support a wide range of cases—from triage and stabilization to ongoing ICU care, while working alongside a highly skilled, collaborative emergency and specialty team. Requirements

  • Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, RVT) or eligible to sit for the VTNE
  • Ability to stay calm and organized in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Passion for high-quality, patient-centered care

Responsibilities

  • Triage and assist in stabilizing emergency patients
  • Provide advanced nursing care in ICU and critical care settings
  • Administer medications, CRIs, and fluid therapy
  • Perform diagnostics (lab work, imaging, sample collection)
  • Assist with advanced procedures (central lines, transfusions, oxygen therapy)
  • Communicate with clients during high-stress situations with empathy and clarity
  • Collaborate closely with ER doctors, specialists, and support staff
