About The Position

MedVet is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Technician for overnight work on its Emergency team. The role suits technicians who thrive in a fast-paced environment, can shift gears quickly, and handle the stress of critical situations. The technician supports patient assessment and treatment, emergency triage, client communication, and nursing care for hospitalized patients. Responsibilities also include anesthesia and sedation monitoring and laboratory testing. MedVet emphasizes teamwork, leadership, and compassion in caring for patients, clients, and teammates.

Requirements

• Prior veterinary experience.
• Proficiency in calculations, including drug calculations, constant-rate infusions, and unit conversions.
• Flexibility with work hours and ability to work additional hours when necessary.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Previous emergency veterinary experience.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases, and gather additional information as necessary.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize them based on assessment.
• Partner with the patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication, and nursing care concerns.
• Provide client education, including home care instructions, medication indications and adverse reactions, and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients.
• Assist the DVM with patient assessment, treatment, and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing.
