Emergency Veterinary Medical Director
About The Position
Emergency Veterinary Care Centers (EVCC) is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Medical Director for its upcoming Kenosha location. EVCC was founded by veterinarians to support the veterinary community by providing trusted emergency-only care when primary care veterinarians are closed. This role offers the opportunity to help build a brand-new emergency veterinary hospital from the ground up, shaping its medical culture, building community relationships, mentoring the team, and establishing standards for 24/7 operations. The Medical Director will work closely with EVCC’s Executive Medical Director and Location Manager, with support from a network of veterinary professionals and one-on-one mentorship from an existing EVCC Medical Director.
Requirements
- Graduate of an AVMA-accredited Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program
- Minimum of 2 years of emergency veterinary experience
- Proficiency in common emergency surgeries
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and compassionate bedside manner
- Ability to build trust and strong relationships with clients—both human and furry
- A desire to lead, mentor, collaborate, and help build something from the ground up
Nice To Haves
- We will alternatively consider reduced ER experience when combined with a minimum of 3 years of clinical practice and leadership experience for the right candidate
Responsibilities
- Advocate for the entire clinical team and partner with the Location Manager to ensure equipment, inventory, protocols, and staffing are appropriate for EVCC standards
- Help establish and oversee 24/7 hospital operations while maintaining exceptional clinical and client service standards
- Provide medical insight and participate in the resolution of client concerns
- Lead onsite mentorship for new DVMs and model effective instruction for the clinical support team
- Provide mentorship for selected VTS candidates
- Facilitate and participate in DVM check-ins and evaluations
- Manage DVM scheduling for the hospital
- Hold the DEA license for the location and ensure legal and compliance standards are met
- Build relationships within the veterinary industry and local community to grow EVCC’s impact
- Partner with the recruiting team on DVM events, candidate interviews, and the externship program
