About The Position

Partner Veterinary is looking for Emergency Veterinary Assistants to join our Richmond, VA team! Additionally, Partner Veterinary has a dedicated Learning and Development Department, to help assistants achieve your professional goals, supported by two veterinary technician specialists (VTS) Heather Carter and Christine Weaver. Partner Veterinary provides Veterinary Assistants with tuition support to an accredited Veterinary Technician program and mentorship to pass the VTNE. To set you up for success from day 1, we gift you a wellness week of PTO after your first 90 days in your new position! This includes 30-40 hours of extra PTO dependent upon your schedule. Partner Veterinary recognizes the demand on veterinary professionals, and this wellness week allows you to rest and relax with a week off after your initial 90 days.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year Veterinary Assistant experience in an emergency or critical care setting
  • Understanding of veterinary workflows and procedures
  • A curious and motivated energy
  • Interest in collaborating with the teams across the Partner network
  • Ability to quickly process, analyze, and react to unplanned and emergent medical situations without delay, so as to ensure the safety of team members and patients
  • Ability to stand for up to 12 hours with limited breaks
  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs. without assistance

Responsibilities

  • Patient handling
  • Assisting team members with treatments
  • Maintaining surgical and anesthesia equipment
  • Cleaning and restocking supplies
  • Accurately entering service charges in the processing database
  • Documenting exams and facilitating discharging appointments (via scribes)
  • Performing client communications, reviewing estimates, and grief discussions (via Care Advocates)
