About The Position

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Queens, NY is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Overnight ER Veterinary Assistant to join our team! Requirements

Knowledgeable and skilled Overnight ER Veterinary Assistant
Ability to assist with nursing care
Ability to stock, clean and maintain cleanliness
Understanding of commonly used medications and their side effects
Ability to administer medications under guidance
Ability to perform radiography and lab work
Ability to perform physical exams and accurately record vital signs
Ability to engage with clients, perform triages, go over estimates, and provide discharge instructions
Proficiency in R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines

Responsibilities

Assist with nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
Stock, clean and maintain cleanliness in our ER, ICU and other designated areas for the role.
Understand classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects and appropriately monitors therapeutic response.
Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration under the guidance of an LVT.
Perform radiography and lab work.
Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
Engage with our clients by performing triages, going over estimates and providing discharge instruction.
Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and demonstrates proficiency in designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor.
