About The Position

Emergency Veterinary Care Centers (EVCC) is a growing group of emergency veterinary hospitals dedicated to expanding into and supporting communities that need 24/7 emergency care. As a veterinarian-led company founded by local veterinarians, EVCC fosters a collaborative, team-first environment committed to delivering exceptional, around-the-clock care. The mentorship program is specifically designed for newly graduated veterinarians transitioning into emergency veterinary medicine, aiming to build confidence, develop critical ER skills, and provide comprehensive support. The program offers personalized learning experiences, with structured phases of mentorship, case discussions, and gradual integration into solo shifts, all while ensuring access to support from other EVCC veterinarians. The Highland location offers a blend of small-town appeal with suburban convenience, located near Chicago, with access to outdoor recreation and a close-knit community.

Requirements

Graduate of an AVMA accredited Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program
Possesses state veterinary license in good standing or eligible to obtain one
Excellent problem-solving skills
Ability to think quickly on your feet
Exceptional interpersonal skills
Compassionate "bedside" manner

Responsibilities

Provide emergency veterinary care to patients.
Participate in a structured mentorship program for new graduates.
Develop critical ER skills through hands-on guidance and case discussions.
Collaborate with other associate DVMs and build relationships within the medical team.
Gain independence through a mix of solo and overlapping shifts.
Utilize real-time support from veterinarians at other EVCC locations when needed.
Build trust and strong relationships with clients (both human and furry).
