About The Position

Belton Animal Clinic & Exotic Care Center is seeking a full-time Associate Veterinarian with a strong interest in exotic animal medicine. This role is ideal for veterinarians passionate about caring for exotic species and developing their skills under the mentorship of a Board-Certified Exotic Companion Mammal Specialist. New graduates are welcome. The position offers a diverse exotic caseload (approximately 20% of total cases), including rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, reptiles, amphibians, and other small mammals. You will gain hands-on experience and build confidence in clinical skills. The role also provides opportunities to learn about acupuncture, veterinary medical manipulation, and integrative treatment approaches. You will work with a skilled and collaborative support staff in a modern facility equipped with advanced technology. The clinic is located in Belton, MO, part of the Kansas City metro area, offering an affordable cost of living and a good work-life balance.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or VMD degree from an accredited institution.
  • Valid veterinary license in the state of Missouri (or ability to obtain).
  • Genuine interest in exotic animal medicine and a commitment to developing clinical skills through mentorship and continuing education.
  • Current DEA License or ability to obtain.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior exotics experience is welcome but not required.
  • New graduates are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Provide veterinary care for exotic animal species including rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, reptiles, amphibians, and other small mammals.
  • Develop clinical skills in exotic animal medicine through mentorship and continuing education.
  • Gain exposure to acupuncture, veterinary medical manipulation, and integrative treatment approaches.
  • Collaborate with a skilled support staff to ensure efficient workflow and excellent patient care.
  • Participate in a 4-day work week with rotating Saturdays.
  • Utilize advanced diagnostic and treatment equipment, including digital radiography, ultrasound, and in-house laboratories.
