About The Position
The emERge program at BluePearl Specialty + Emergency Pet Hospital is a training program designed to equip veterinary school graduates with the necessary skills and confidence to become successful Emergency Veterinarians. This full-time position combines online modules, interactive seminars, labs, mentoring, and hands-on practice experience. The program aims to prepare participants for their first solo emergency shift, offering valuable training from experienced Veterinarians and a salary from day one. The program is suitable for graduates of accredited veterinary schools, individuals with a sincere interest in emergency veterinary medicine, or current veterinarians seeking a career change. It is important to note that this program does not substitute for an internship required for residency applications.
Requirements
- DVM or VMD degree
- Graduate of an accredited veterinary school
- Sincere interest in becoming an Emergency Veterinarian
- Ability to think on your feet and handle challenging cases
- Eagerness to learn and lead by example

- Current Veterinarian looking for a career change
- Completion of an internship (though the program does not replace it for residency applications)
Responsibilities
- Build foundational emergency medicine skills through bootcamp training.
- Gain exposure to various specialties to enhance understanding and collaboration.
- Apply training in a real-world setting under the mentorship of experienced emergency clinicians.
- Transition to managing more complex cases with greater independence.
- Work full shifts in the ER, developing critical thinking and decision-making skills.
- Participate in ongoing mentorship and weekly webinar series.
- Handle a variety of emergency cases to broaden expertise and build confidence.
- Take on full responsibility for managing emergency cases, showcasing confidence and competence.
- Work alongside the hospital team to provide exceptional patient care.
- Apply advanced diagnostic and procedural skills to handle high-acuity cases.
