About The Position

The Emergency Department (ED) Technician assists medical and nursing staff in providing technical support for patient care in the emergency room setting. Requirements

  • Current licensure by the Maryland State Board for Certified Nursing Assistant (current EMT license will be accepted in lieu of CNA license)
  • High School Diploma
  • BLS certification (issued through the American Heart Association)
  • Minimum one-year experience as certified nursing assistant (corpsman, or EMT/paramedic training may be alternatively considered), or equivalent education and training in basic disease processes, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.

Responsibilities

  • Collecting, communicating and documenting data and information
  • Performing diagnostic testing, surveillance and monitoring
  • Assisting with and performing treatments and procedures
  • Maintaining medical equipment and supplies
  • Assisting with transportation of patients, supplies, specimens and medications
  • Responding to emergencies including initiation of emergency measures
  • Performing associated and delegated duties in support of departmental and hospital operations
