About The Position

Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse or Emergency Department Provider the Emergency Services Tech provides patient care and assists in performing assigned procedures within scope of training. Why Work at Cheyenne Regional? 403(b) with 4% employer match ANCC Magnet Hospital 21 PTO days per year (increases with tenure) Education Assistance Program Employee Sponsored Wellness Program Employee Assistance Program Loan Forgiveness Eligible Here is What You Will Be Doing: Responsible for performing assigned procedures including: electrocardiogram testing (EKG); wound cleansing and bandaging, vital sign measurements, specimen collection, intraosseus placement, bladder (Foley) catherization, and ultrasound intravenous placement. Provide point of care testing including blood glucose, troponin, chem 8, and lactic acid. Assist providers and nurses with patient exam and sterile procedures. Perform fiberglass splints. Provide training for orthopedic devices including crutch training, splint and sling care; perform orthopedic device care and cleaning. Remove sutures and staples from wounds as directed. Room patients and assist in monitoring condition; provides patient updates as warranted to appropriate healthcare provider. Respond to traumas and codes to provide intubation assistance and compressions. Responsible for cleaning and stocking supplies in patient rooms and department. Document patient care and condition as appropriate. Provide oxygen delivery including nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal adjuncts.

Requirements

  • Current Wyoming Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification from the Wyoming Office of Emergency Medical Services
  • Current Wyoming Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) Certification from the Wyoming Office of Emergency Services
  • Current Wyoming Intermediate Emergency Medical Technician (IEMT) Certification from the Wyoming Office of Emergency Services
  • Current Wyoming Paramedic Certification from the Wyoming Office of Emergency Medical Services
  • Current Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT)
  • Current Paramedic (P) Certification from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT)
  • 14 Days: Cheyenne Regional AHA RQI within fourteen (14) calendar days of start date
  • 6 Months: Cheyenne Regional CPI within six (6) months of start date
  • Demonstrates knowledge of medical terminology
  • Demonstrates an independent work initiative, sound judgment and attention to detail
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to perform calculations
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to interact respectfully with diverse cultural and socio-economic populations
