Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse or Emergency Department Provider the Emergency Services Tech provides patient care and assists in performing assigned procedures within scope of training. Provide point of care testing including blood glucose, troponin, chem 8, and lactic acid. Assist providers and nurses with patient exam and sterile procedures. Perform fiberglass splints. Provide training for orthopedic devices including crutch training, splint and sling care; perform orthopedic device care and cleaning. Remove sutures and staples from wounds as directed. Room patients and assist in monitoring condition; provides patient updates as warranted to appropriate healthcare provider. Respond to traumas and codes to provide intubation assistance and compressions. Responsible for cleaning and stocking supplies in patient rooms and department. Document patient care and condition as appropriate. Provide oxygen delivery including nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal adjuncts.
