About The Position

The Emergency Services Specialist is responsible for the assessment and disposition of emergencies. This role involves responding to walk-ins and phone emergencies, providing assessments, and making dispositions which may include assisting with hospitalization, coordinating with other agencies, and completing the involuntary commitment process. The specialist will also triage new callers, provide information and referrals, and participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours crisis calls. Additionally, the role involves assisting with discharge summaries, transporting clients when necessary, and documenting according to clinical policies and procedures, DMH, CARF, and other federal or state program standards. Community Counseling Center (CCC) is a behavioral health organization serving the public since 1974, acting as an administrative agent for the Missouri Department of Mental Health, providing comprehensive behavioral health services within a five-county area.

Requirements

  • Must meet the Division of Behavioral Health's definition of Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP): Minimum MSW or MA in clinical psychology, psychological counseling or other mental health degree; or Meet the qualifications of a community support specialist (CSC) with at least three (3) years of population specific experience providing community support services in accordance with the key service functions specified in 9 CSR 30- 4.047(5)(B)1-8.
  • Must hold or obtain by start date, MO Class E Driver's License (Class D for IL Residents), and proof of continuous auto insurance.
  • Must also meet CCC's Motor Vehicle Record standards policy and have reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to walk-ins and phone emergencies and provide assessment per agency procedures.
  • Make disposition on emergencies including assisting hospitalization, coordinating with other agencies and with resources outside the Center, completing involuntary commitment process.
  • Maintain positive attitude toward agency and clientele.
  • Make appropriate referrals.
  • Provide follow-up on disposition to ensure linkage has occurred.
  • Triage all new callers to the Center for services.
  • Assist with Access to Care for services and refer to other services as needed.
  • Provide information and referral for resources outside the agency when situation dictates.
  • Participate in the on-call schedule rotation for after-hours crisis calls.
  • Assist with completion of discharge summaries for clients who no longer receive services.
  • Responsible for transporting clients in agency and/or personal vehicle as deemed necessary and appropriate to meet program requirements.
  • Document according to clinical policies and procedures, DMH, CARF, and any other federal or state program per agency standards.
