About The Position

Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager or designee, performs clerical and receptionist duties and maintains the physical environment of the area. Assures that all registration requirements for Emergency Room Encounters and Inpatient Admissions are accurate and completed. Responsible for capturing all financial and demographic information from Emergency Room Encounters and Inpatient Admission. Assures there is a physical presence at the Emergency Entrance at all times. Provides administrative support to the Registered Nurse and/or the attending Physician as needed.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficient with Microsoft office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Able to learn new equipment and procedures.
  • Clear, comprehensible, and concise oral and written communications including correct English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Complete confidentiality of patient and business records.
  • One-year clerical or secretarial experience in a health care setting.
  • Demonstrate good organizational skills.
  • Demonstrate proficient grammar, punctuation and spelling.
  • Ability to deal with all members of the public in a patient, courteous and tactful manner even during stressful situations.
  • Ability to work independently without constant supervision.
  • Ability to initiate work on projects which need to be done accurately and efficiently.
  • CPR 'heart saver' course certification prior to or with-in 30 days of starting.
  • Ability to use computers: Able to learn and use electronic health record program(s) like Cerner to enter admissions, discharges, and transfers (ADT), input acuity levels, daily reports, Medevac and patient travel into computer system as necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Hospital Registration preferred.
