About The Position

Missouri Baptist Medical Center is seeking an Emergency Room Patient Care Technician to provide direct patient care in support of licensed professional nurses. The role helps maintain a safe environment, gathers vital patient information, and reports changes in patient condition to the nursing team to contribute to each patient's overall assessment. Care is provided under nurse supervision in a healing environment that promotes patient- and family-centered care.

The Emergency Department treats more than 30,000 cases each year and includes 20 private treatment rooms and a four-bed Chest Pain Center. Missouri Baptist Medical Center is an acute care hospital in St. Louis County offering a broad range of medical and surgical services. The position is full-time, 36 hours per week, on the 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. night shift, with holiday and weekend rotation. It is benefit-eligible.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• No experience required.
• No supervisor experience required.

Nice To Haves

• Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under nurse supervision, promoting patient- and family-centered care in a healing environment.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Perform vital signs, intake and output, fall and pressure ulcer prevention measures, urinary catheter care, phlebotomy, and point-of-care testing as requested.
• Collect clinical data and report changes in patient status to the nurse.
• Assist the nurse with patient and family education.
• Document patient care activities using correct medical terminology.
• Act as a 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.
• Ensure supplies and equipment are available to meet patient needs.
• Participate in activities promoting patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Participate in professional development.
