The Acute Care RN provides emergency nursing care to patients across the lifespan who present with physical, emotional, or psychological changes in health. Care may be non-urgent, acute, critical, chronic, or emergent and may address crisis intervention, forensic, palliative, and end-of-life needs. Emergency nursing incorporates triage into the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient responses. The nurse collects and analyzes patient information, identifies problems and expected outcomes, develops and implements collaborative individualized plans of care, and evaluates progress. Professional care is guided by Jean Watson’s Theory of Human Caring, with an emphasis on caring relationships, respect, advocacy, ethical practice, diversity and inclusion, effective communication, evidence-based services, and ongoing learning. The position also supports the orientation and development of nurses new to their roles and nursing students. This is a patient-facing, on-site, full-time position working 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week. It has no supervisory or budget responsibility.
