About The Position

The Emergency Room CNA, also referred to as an Emergency Department CNA or Emergency Services CNA, assists nurses and doctors in the emergency room by providing patient care, monitoring vital signs, helping with procedures, and ensuring medical supplies are stocked. The role also includes transporting patients, documenting observations, maintaining infection control, and offering emotional support in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

This is a full-time evening position at Saint John Hospital in Leavenworth, Kansas, with hours from 10:45 a.m. to 11:15 p.m.

Requirements

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate upon hire.
• Current BLS upon hire and maintain current.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.

Nice To Haves

• Minimum six months of previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred.

Responsibilities

• Help patients with basic needs such as bathing, dressing, and toileting; reposition and transfer patients as needed.
• Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration.
• Assist with wound care and dressing changes under supervision.
• Prepare rooms and ensure medical supplies are stocked.
• Transport patients within the hospital, including to imaging or other departments.
• Assist with procedures, such as setting up equipment and applying splints.
• Perform CPR and basic life support if certified.
• Record patient information and observations, and report changes in patient condition to nurses or doctors.
• Provide emotional support to patients and families.
• Clean and sanitize patient areas and equipment, and follow hospital protocols to prevent infection spread.
