The Emergency Response Technician ensures compliance with fire protection and prevention requirements at Louisiana terminals and maintains the emergency response team and equipment in a state of readiness. This part-time, non-exempt hourly position supports a 24/7 operation, with assigned shifts that may include nights, weekends, and holidays. Typical operating hours vary, and occasional travel may be necessary, sometimes with little or no advance notice. Overtime may be required and is paid in accordance with FLSA and company policy. The role responds to emergency and day-to-day terminal matters involving chemical handling, personal protective equipment, and emergency management, including fires, spills, rescues, and life-safety concerns. It also maintains fire equipment, conducts or attends training and drills, performs required inspections and equipment testing and calibrations, and assists with confined-space entries and HAZMAT operations at on-site or off-site locations. The work takes place at large terminal facilities with uneven terrain, stairs, ladders, and inclines. The employee must be able to enter and exit facilities during foreseeable emergencies, work in confined spaces and over water, tolerate heights, and use a respirator and other safety equipment. Equipment used includes a company vehicle, fire apparatus, two-way radio, emergency response tools, and safety equipment.
