About The Position

The Emergency Response Team Officer maintains security, custody, and control of the resident population while residents are committed to the Virginia Center for Behavioral Rehabilitation. The officer maintains controlled access inside and outside the facility and maintains control and custody during transportation outside the secure facility. The position requires the ability to work security posts as directed, follow post orders and facility procedures, and drive a 15-passenger security van. Successful completion of certification and orientation is required.

Requirements

Working knowledge of policies, physical-control methods, first-aid procedures, and radio communications.
Ability to operate automated control systems and a personal computer.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Ability to apply and interpret rules and regulations, conduct thorough searches, analyze and resolve problems, provide leadership and work direction to residents, and exercise good judgment.
Successfully complete certification and orientation.
Ability to work all security posts as directed by a supervisor and follow written post orders and facility policies and procedures.
Ability to drive a 15-passenger security van.
