About The Position

The Emergency Response Team Manager will have primary oversight for the Emergency Response Team Officer (ERTO) program. This role is responsible for the selection and training (initial and ongoing) of ERTOs, including the development and maintenance of training and qualification standards to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws, as well as company policies. The manager will provide direct oversight of scheduling and daily operations, coordinating with property Security Management to ensure proper staffing levels. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and company policies, practices, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a United States accredited law enforcement academy or comparable course of instruction required.
  • 5+ years of prior relevant creditable experience gained through service as a federal, state, or local law enforcement officer; through service as a military police officer; on a military special operations team as an operator specializing in counter-terrorism or dignitary protection; in other work, such as a Special/Security Police Officer (SPO), that provided the required knowledge and skills of law enforcement operations, practices, techniques, and the judicious use of force, including firearms; or as an MGMRI Emergency Response Team Officer.
  • Background and certification as a Use of Force/Firearms instructor from credible agency required.
  • Previous documented experience to include recurrent “use of force decision making” in an armed, public facing capacity, as well as training in the de-escalation of and deliberative escalation of force required.
  • HR218 qualification or ability to obtain CCW certification required.
  • Candidates are required to maintain an appropriate level of physical fitness, knowledge of crisis response and tactical maneuvers, and firearms proficiency.
  • Must attend all mandatory legal, tactical, defensive tactics, first aid, CPR, firearms, and other training as a condition of continued employment.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with ERT Senior Managers and Executive Director in the development and management of ERTO services strategies.
  • Provide initial and continuing education training in topics such as Force Protection, Anti-Terrorism, Use of Force, Firearms Training, and Defensive Tactics.
  • Communicate with Property Security Management regarding the daily operations of the Emergency Response Team Officers.
  • Lead investigative efforts related to security matters.
  • Drive and operate company vehicles, trucks, and motorized carts to respond to incidents on and off properties.
  • Handle administrative issues including scheduling, attendance, and training.
  • Maintain up-to-date records on training, licenses, and permit requirements.
  • Ensure the Company has a consistent approach utilizing ‘best security practices’ for security related incidents and plan how security matters and emergency situations will be handled.
  • Provide oversight and direction of the Emergency Response Team Officers, including mentorship, problem resolution, coaching, and create a culture enabling development of high-performing individuals.
  • Instill importance of development plans and develop succession plans for future team growth.
  • Recruit, evaluate and select Emergency Response Team Officers.
  • Inspect and maintain equipment and supplies to include uniform, firearms, ammunition, and related equipment.
  • Review the appearance of the Emergency Response Team Officers to ensure they meet the company’s appearance standards.
  • Direct and manage the team to respond to emergency situations including in-progress acts of violence, crisis, weapons incidents, explosive incidents, natural disasters, and a wide range of issues posing a hazard to lives and/or property using the appropriate escalation of force up to and including armed response by following established protocol.
  • Direct and manage covert surveillance operations.
  • Oversee, direct and manage serious emergencies by securing the scene to prevent further loss or damage, advise personnel of threats and potential threats, summon emergency responders to the incident, and initiate and conduct evacuation procedures.
