About The Position

The Emergency Response Supervisor is responsible for ensuring compliance for fire protection and prevention at the St. Rose and Avondale terminals as well as ensuring the emergency response team and response equipment are in a ready state. This position is a non-exempt, hourly role within a 24/7 operation, requiring accurate time recording and potential overtime pay. Occasional travel may be necessary with little or no advance notice. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 5 years’ experience responding to municipal and industrial hazmat, fire, and medical emergencies.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credentials) for access to IMTT’s terminal locations
  • Firefighter 1 & 2
  • Valid CPR/First Aid
  • Haz-Mat Technician
  • Good Knowledge of OSHA and NFPA
  • Confined Space Rescue Technician
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
  • Ability to understand written and verbal communication in the English language.
  • Ability to make decisions in a variable environment.
  • Ability to communicate with all other terminal departments.
  • Must be neat, detail oriented, organized, conscientious, and thorough.
  • Must be an assertive self-starter who can work with minimal supervision and direction.
  • Must have good communications skills, both written and oral.
  • Must be able to work in a demanding team environment that is challenging and sometimes stressful work environment.
  • Must be knowledgeable with NIMS and ICS models.
  • Proficient in the use of computers and familiar with most common office software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Experience in industrial facility is preferred.
  • Record of regulatory, health, and safety training

Responsibilities

  • Respond to everyday activities concerning chemical handling, PPE, and general terminal Emergency Management issues, including firefighting, spills, and rescues.
  • Respond to employee concerns and issues for life safety.
  • Maintain and assure daily check of all fire equipment at the start of each workday.
  • Conduct and/or attend regular emergency response training, drills and meetings involving on-site and off-site as needed.
  • Maintain and oversee response equipment, testing, calibrations, and recordkeeping as needed.
  • Assist in confined space entries and confined space entry stand-by as needed.
  • Maintain working knowledge of applicable OSHA, NFPA, and EPA regulations.
  • Supervise facility ERT and maintain fire protection when LA Chief of Emergency Response is absent.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations in the absences of the Fire Chief.
  • Perform duties in an outside environment, including working in confined spaces, over water, and at heights.
  • Wear and use a respirator.
