About The Position

The Emergency Response Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the training and development of the Mine Rescue Team to ensure team members are equipped and capable to safely and proficiently perform rescues while maintaining compliance with MSHA regulations and OceanaGold Standards, Policies, and Procedures. This role involves developing and maintaining onboarding processes and continuous internal training programs, including monthly underground and surface training plans, yearly scheduling, and coordination of external rescue training and competitions. The coordinator will also maintain comprehensive training, testing, and certification records for all Mine Rescue members, manage notification systems for certification expirations and training requirements, and maintain the Mine Rescue member roster, daily shift coverage, and ensure adequate incident command capabilities and regulatory compliance. Additionally, the role includes managing inventory and service records for all Mine Rescue supplies, equipment, and vehicles, ensuring equipment readiness, and conducting regular inspections and audits of fire protection systems. The coordinator will administer training management systems, update policies, procedures, and standard work instructions, develop and maintain emergency response plans, create after-action reports for all Mayday events and regulatory incidents, and coordinate annual drills and desktop scenarios. Ensuring Mine Rescue Team compliance with MSHA requirements, participating in mock and actual MSHA inspections, and assisting with regulatory reporting and documentation are key responsibilities. The role also involves coordinating fire extinguisher inspections and swap-outs, maintaining the Mine Rescue House and Training Facility housekeeping, identifying and communicating maintenance needs, and developing budget proposals aligned with operational needs while ensuring budget compliance. Finally, the coordinator will provide on-call support during designated shifts, assist with EMT roster management and external response assistance requests, and support the site Incident Management Team.

Requirements

  • Underground Mining Experience
  • 5 years Mine Rescue, emergency response, EMS
  • Experience with industrial emergency response systems & equipment
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite, PowerPoint and reporting/ documentation systems
  • Valid Drivers license required
  • Ability to maintain required Mine Rescue Certifications and physical qualifications
  • MSHA Blue Card
  • MSHA Mine Rescue Trainer Certification (MM / Red Card) or ability to obtain
